America Recycles Day
11/15/2007
Oakland, CA

Oakland celebrates America Recycles Day (ARD) every year. ARD is celebrated to educate communities about the environmental and economic benefits of recycling. Did you know that recycling 75% of what California sends to landfills would prevent 59 million tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere, meeting California's CO2 reduction goal for 2010. Reducing, recycling, or composting all of the materials that are currently in our garbage would have the same impact on reducing Green House Gas emissions as taking all the automobiles off the roads in California. Powerful yes! And you can easily be a part of the solution

Take the Pledge and spread the word, visit America Recycles Day website: www.americarecyclesday.org After making your pledge, please join us at Re-Create, a recycled art exhibition by Oakland youth. All the entries use discarded or reused materials in a creative application of the 4Rs- reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot.

Thursday November 15 from 5:30-7:30
472 Water Street (Jack London Square), Oakland
Sponsored by MOCHA and Public Works Agency
