Success Stories
Cities and counties throughout the state are renewing their commitment to recycling by hosting events to highlight waste reduction and recycling activities in their communities.

Many communities will hold events that have been successful in previous years.

Del Mar Enviro Fair 2003– "Conserve Resources Now for a Better Tomorrow"
Mark your calendars now for Enviro Fair 2003, November 7th, 9:00am to 7:00pm! This will be the fourth year for the 22nd District’s annual seminar this year featuring speakers on special event recycling, green building, and an important session focusing on Organizing a San Diego County Zero Waste Community!

Enviro Fair 2003 Sponsors:
San Diego County Toyota Dealers, KPRI Radio 102.1, Solana Center, Wal Mart, San Diego Landfill Systems, The San Diego Chapter of the Green Building Council, California Resource Recovery Association's Venues and Special Events Recycling Technical Council, and The County of San Diego.

  • Take a tour of the recycling program at the Del Mar Fairgrounds (9:00a.m. - R.S.V.P. 858-792-4298 We will meet outside at the Entrance to the Mission Tower Building.)

  • Visit exhibitors with recycled content products and environmental services.
  • Talk to representatives of non-profit organizations committed to improving our quality of life.
  • View the competitive Recycled Art Exhibit, awarding $2,700 in cash prizes to the winners.
  • Check out the backyard compost bin sale!
  • At 5:10p.m. there will be a special panel discussion focusing on a sustainable plan for the future!

Junque Arte (pronounced "Junk Art") Competition and Exhibition
The Humboldt Arts Council announces the exhibition dates for its 9th annual Junque Arte Competition and Exhibition. The exhibition, co-sponsored with Humboldt County Integrated Waste Management, will take place October 17 through November 23, 2003 in the William Thonson Gallery at the Morris Graves Museum of Art.

The Junque Arte exhibition features artworks created entirely from recycled materials (reclaimed, reused, recovered, second-hand, salvaged, anything un-new!). Entries will be accepted October 9th and 10th, noon to7:00 pm, at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, 636 F Street, Eureka, California.

Cash awards will be given to First Place in each category and one for Best of Show. This year's juror TBA.
